The King Blues - Save The World, Get The Girl - Single Review

Jonny ‘Itch’ Fox is not without talent. Save The World, Get The Girl portrays him as a bomb disposal expert, a Shaolin master, and a caped crusader giving gravity a crooked middle finger, so it’s a wonder he has time to promote The King Blues’ new single. It's a prototype of ska and pop influences, and the band appear keen on reviving Hard-Fi’s soporific legacy. However, for all the agreeable sloganeering, the barrow boy musings grate against the mawkish violins. Fox might be intent on saving the world, but he should scale down his ambitions and save us the trouble. [Ray Philp]
